“When did you start dabbling in alcoholic drinks?” The interviewer asked as I smiled, ready to recite the answer I’ve been rehearsing for the last week.
“I’ve always had a fascination with the art of mixology,” I recited my answer like a line in a play, “as for my dabbling in alcohol, let’s just say it’s a long-time hobby of mine.” In truth, I’ve only read a book on the art of mixology but I’m a fast learner, I’m sure I can pick it fast. As long as I can bring home a paycheck ASAP, I’m willing to do anything.
The interviewer turned her watch toward her and checked the time. Then she sighed, “Look, I’m desperate, we’re opening tomorrow night and my mixologist ditched me at the last minute, you can start tomorrow night but know that the first 90 days is probationary. I’ll be watching you.”
Awesome! I almost jumped from my seat and shouted. “I won’t let you down.” Composed, I stood up and shook her hand. Now, I have work to do. I have approximately 24 hours to learn everything on mixing alcoholic beverages.
Great story Yinglan
