Note: this is 100% fiction
It’s as though I’m in a dream. You’re almost there, a voice tells me, you’re so close. What am I doing here? What’s my end goal?
As soon as the questions appear in my head, the answers appear. Grab the ring. Grab the golden ring!
I try to move my hands but it’s like they’re frozen in place. Come on, mentally, I try to summon my hands from whatever cement block they are stuck in, if they’re stuck in one. After a moment, I’m panting like a dog on a summer day, mentally exhausted. Why am I trying to get something that’s probably not mine to get in the first place? A question pops into my head as I stand back and try to look at the big picture.
Maybe that’s it. Maybe that’s what this is trying to tell me. Maybe I just need to stop trying so hard to please the ones I love.
Back in my bedroom, I slowly open my eyes to the dim morning light outside the window and my fiancé asleep next to me. Slowly, the corner of my lips twist up in a smile as I whisper, “I love you.”
A very clever take Yinglan. Thanks for joining in.

You used the idea of dreaming quite effectively in this story. I enjoyed it 🙂
