Share Your World – Week of November 13, 2023

If you can, how often do you exercise every week?

If I can, I would love to exercise every day but with mom, exercising is near impossible. I did it for a time and found myself even more exhausted and anxious. Basically, I have to get up at 6 AM and start working right away before quitting at around 2:30 or 3, go to the park or walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes to an hour before mom calls dinner time.

We used to eat at normal people hours, something like 5:30 PM, but ever since 2020, we began eating at 4:30 PM and in recent months, somedays, we’d eat at 3:30. It’s insane and I don’t like to exercise after dinner as it will make me tired and I wouldn’t be able to write posts for the next day.

Do you belong, or have you ever belonged, to a gym?

I used to go to the gym at the air force base but I wouldn’t say I belonged to that gym. I would love to go to a gym though and be trained by a professional since I don’t know what I’m doing half of the time and fear I would injure myself.

Do you prefer to exercise alone or in a group (ie. aerobics).

I am too highly self-conscious to be exercising in a group as in I don’t want to see myself doing exercise in a mirror nor do I want a group of other people look at me strangely.

Do you enjoy it or feel it’s something you ought to do?

It depends on the exercise. Is it fun? Would I feel like I’m exercising? Most of the time, I think I just fee like it’s something I should do.

  1. I have a membership at a gym but I haven’t been able to go much this year

I prefer working out by myself but I have worked with friends and while talking to complete strangers.

I like working out in the early morning the most but I used to work out after work. I like to use my own shower.

I love working out, as long as nothing is bothering me, like my ankle. I work out at my own pace and I usually work out between 30 minutes to an hour.

    1. Unless I have music in my ears, I do sometimes prefer to work out with other people – acquaintances or strangers. I feel it’s better than working out alone. I haven’t been able to work out much this year because of knee and back pain.

  2. Thanks for joining in Yinglan. With Hubby’s reflux, he couldn’t eat anything after about 3.30 so this threw out our meal times. We have our main meal around midday, then a snack in the afternoon. It’s a little better now, but 6pm is our cutoff for food, and 7pm our cutoff for hot drinks other than boiled water.

    1. That is awful. I wouldn’t know how to operate with that meal time, particularly on days when I have to head into the office. These days, when I head into the office, I would usually have a smallish breakfast before keeping my hunger at bay with chocolate so I wouldn’t be too full when I head home for dinner at 4 PM.
