Six Sentence Story: Cone

I don’t know about you but I hate traffic cones, they seem to be everywhere at this time of the year. I have to head into downtown for the office for 4 days this week because I am taking a class. Not only am I already making a detour from a route I’ve been using for the last 4 year to get to the office, but on the way back, I also had to make 2 more detours before I could reach the interstate.

It’s ridiculous how many traffic cones there are on the roads during the warmer months of the year. It makes driving in downtown so much harder because some of the cones will either be toppled over by the wind or they’ve been moved to obstruct traffic. I don’t know what’s going on but some kind of road construction has been happening every summer since I started working at my current job 6 years, I don’t know what they’re doing but I wish the road work would stop.

Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Cone”.

  1. Because we are in the swamps down south where the winters are “pussycats,” we have them all year long. We thought about changing the name of the capital city of our state from Baton Rouge, which is French for Red Stick, to Barrel L’Orange. We don’t have any red sticks to speak of, but the orange barrel cones are all over the place.
