#WeekendCoffeeShare – National Waffle Day

Happy Saturday! A big thanks to Natalie of Natalie the Explorer for hosting WeekendCoffeeShare each weekend.

Did you know tomorrow, August 24, 2025, is National Waffle Day?

National Waffle Day was celebrated at work this week with lots of waffles! Not just any waffles, fancy waffles with cream, nutella spread, and berries.

Having had minimal dinner the previous night and no breakfast when I headed into the office on Wednesday, I had myself a double helping of waffles. They was just about the best thing I’ve had in a long time even though they were about 100% sugar. I don’t get to have much of such things at home.

At home, everything’s been bland. My mom’s been skimming on the salt and seasoning even when she cooked the harvest from the garden, making everything good taste awful.

Well, I suffered the consequences after downing these waffles, just as I suspected I would. I started experiencing major fatigue like I couldn’t keep my eyes open and my body ached. I suspect those are all symptoms of the sugar and I hadn’t had that much sugar in quite a while.

I discovered after clocking out that day that I was off the next day, which I was not aware. I knew I was taking a long Labor Day weekend next week but I didn’t know I was taking this week off. What shall I do?

I did not do much and couldn’t do much, not with my mom at home working. She went to the office on Tuesday this week because of a doctor appointment. So as of this week, I am 0 for 2 on my day off because I specifically took Thursdays off to jet off while my mom’s in the office.

I had a rough night sleep because of the body aches. I still have no idea what’s wrong, why my body is achy. That day, I ended up sleeping in before calling the store to have my tire appointment move up. I got new tires for my car and was scheduled to have them installed next Tuesday but the store had availability, so now my car has 4 brand-new tires.

I’ve probably harvested around 50 cucumbers by now. The plants just keep on giving. I must be doing something right but I think the big man upstairs contributed to my success. It may be silly of me but I feel like he granted me the abundant harvest this year and I am thankful.

I have been slowly starting to transplant my fall vegetable seedlings, because I feel like if I transplant all of them at once, I would be putting all the plants in jeopardy. So I’m doing them in batches. “Don’t put your eggs in one basket,” as someone once told me.

Anyway, I appreciate you stopping by and hope you will have a wonderful week ahead.

  1. Your waffle breakfast sounds delicious! But I do know the pain that excess sugar in one’s body can produce! I hope you’re feeling much better now 🙂 No matter how your time off turns out, I hope you find some enjoyable moments in each day!
