#SundayStills: Three Stories about #Sweets

I don’t know what’s more sweet than this waffle. Each summer, during Employee Appreciation day, the company would cater from a popular waffle food cart as a token of appreciation. There are usually a few varieties of waffles but I always pick the one with the fruit as the topping. I also love the nutella hazelnut sauce but OMG, is that sweet.

I found out last month that my A1C has entered pre-diabetic range, so I’ll have to be extra careful with this delicious treat this year.

Another sweet treat from work and this was from Christmas party 2024. Looking at this picture as I’m writing this post has my mouth salivating even though my mouth is parched at the moment. Ever since I found out my A1C has entered pre-diabetic range, I have become very careful. My days of indulging myself in chocolates and sweet treats are over. No more chocolate at work nor at home. I snuck a Hershey kiss yesterday while waiting for my aunt’s doctor and felt a bit guilty afterward but I was hungry.

Finally, while in Kyoto, Japan in 2023, I had an evening to myself as I told my mom I wished to dine alone. I was surprised she allowed me to roam the streets of Japan by myself. Usually, she would start listing at least a dozen reasons of why I need to stick by her. After a delicious meal at the nearby mall, I walked the mall to burn off some of the calories but before long, I found myself at the supermarket, browsing the food selection.

The dessert section caught my eye. If you’ve ever seen Japanese desserts and confections, they look more like art than food. If I remember correctly, these are red bean mochi (rice balls). I bought a box back to the hotel to share. It was delicious.
