1. What food item has gone up out of all proportion in your opinion over the last year?

To be honest, I don’t do much grocery shopping. My mom typically goes into the Commissionary at the air force base to get the meat and other things and since I’m not allowed onto the base, I have no clue about the prices. Also, ever since I started growing my own vegetables, I no longer know what prices I should be expecting for vegetables at the supermarket. As for fruit, banana has remained at $0.50 per pound for probably the last 5 years. I think it was $0.59 before. I usually just stick to bananas and frozen berries and the prices for those seem to remain pretty stable over the years.

2. When Covid hit in 2020, did you get caught without vital provisions, or were you able to buy what you needed when you needed it?

I wasn’t able to get flour for a month or two when I needed it to feed my sourdough starter but other than that, I guess I was lucky I never really ran out of much of anything.

3.  What food item was popular when you were a child that no longer seems to be readily available now?

To be honest, I didn’t eat a lot of strange foods as a child nor did I snacked a lot. So I can’t think of any popular food items from my childhood that went extinct.

4.  Do you/your partner shop to a budget, do a big shop once a month and then small top ups or buy what you need as and when necessary?

It’s usually a once a week thing and as I mentioned in my answer for question 1, my mom does the grocery shopping. Once in a blue moon, I will head to the grocery store to replenish my own food supply like gummy bears, candies, among other snacks and health foods.
