A-Z Challenge 2016: U for Underdogs

Underdog

This quote makes me feel proud to be a Libra. I’ve been a follower my whole life or the “underdogs” and I happen to like it because I’m shy and leaders aren’t shy people, they are those who speaks up when something is off. I’m not the type of person that speaks up in situations like that. I mean I would know that something was off but I can be wrong. So I like being a follower and may be forever.

There are moments, though, when I got to prove my intelligence and usefulness and watch people’s faces go from unimpressed to shocked, that always felt good. Last week, thinking I’d make a fool of myself, my mom gave me a Chinese article to read. I read it out loud fluently. She was in awe. I guess I proved that I still know my Chinese. Afterwards, she asked if I agreed with what the article said. I don’t remember what the question was. I just remember I answered, “I’m not sure. I’m still discovering who I am.”

Once more, she was in shock. I’m not sure what was so shocking with my answer, she asked, “How did you become so deep?” I just shrugged and went upstairs to my room.

Before I wrap this post, I want to say that being an underdog is not a bad thing. It’s cool and awesome because underdogs are the quiet people. We are the mysterious people. We are the observers and thinkers. We have more ideas in our heads than you’ll ever imagine. We just don’t like to be in the spotlight.

  1. Enjoyed your post 🙂 But then there are leaders who were very shy once and preferred not to be in the lime-light. Then something happened that changed them…like it’s now or never…so they took charge.
