Good morning and thank you for joining me on this Saturday. I am so thankful it’s the weekend because it’s exactly what I’ve been looking to all week. Is it sad for a working folk to want everyday to be the weekend?
I was not going to review my week until Saturday night but what the hey, it’s Friday night and I’m wide awake now from searching recipes.
Let’s see, what happened this week?
On Monday, my mom returned from China with tons of tales to tell but frankly, they sounded much like complaints and I didn’t pay much attention. I thought, with my mom returning home, it would end my salad-eating streak at work.
You see, ever since she traveled to China two weeks ago, I stopped eating rice for lunch and began eating sandwiches and salad. My colleagues said I was eating too healthy and that it’s not good for my health.
Okay, when I was bringing rice, you guys thought I was eating unhealthy and now I’m eating too healthy? Whatever, all it matters is I feel good.
I ignored them.
Anyway, I continued eating my ham and turkey sandwich this week as I went from two pieces of bread to one. My homemade bread had way too thick slices since I like to keep my fingers intact while slicing my bread.
On Friday morning, I woke up, got dressed, got a drink of water, and weighed myself. I was down two pounds from my usual weight. I was either very hungry or I lost some weight. Either way, it felt too good to be true. That evening, when I came home, I once again weighed myself, still down a pound. Maybe, just maybe, the diet worked but I’m still skeptical.
Work-wise, it’s been a busy week. Company financial reports are coming due and the financials are tight which makes me anxious and I’m not even sure if it’s the job of the accountant to worry about money problems. Oh my, am I turning into my mom?
On the job-hunting front, shamefully, I didn’t apply for any new jobs this week because like I said, it’s been a busy week. After I get home from work, I just wanted to crash on the couch and never get up again.
However, I did get an email from one of my applied jobs. They are moving me to the next step which is a psychological evaluation about my management style and an accounting assessment. I’ve completed the psychological evaluation. Now, I just have to find the time to do the accounting assessment which I’m nervous about. What if I fail this?
I’ve always had a strong dislike for tests. The assessment sounds like a test of my accounting knowledge. I’ve been out of school for almost a year, most of the accounting I do at my current job have been instinctive. I feel so anxious about this assessment. I’m crossing my fingers in hopes of getting through to the next round.
I want to thank you for dropping by this morning and hoped you enjoyed our conversation. I would also hope you can join me again next weekend.

I hope the assessment goes well. Sounds like eating differently did you some good! Good for you for listening to your body.
Thanks for participating in the #DSFWeeklyRewind! Have a creative, gratitude-filled week!

You can do it Yinglan. Do you have any old notes or textbooks to go through? Perhaps you have a general book store there or you could check Amazon for abook that helps you study forvthis test? Is it by your work or is to receive a certain designation at and outside of work? Good luck Yinglan.
I think if you eat most of your catbohydrates in fruit, veggies, along with proteins (meat, legumes, Greek yogurt, etc.) with say one small portion of carbs in the day (unless you are working out, going for a run, hiking, etc.) you are okay. However, it depends on the carbs too. A big portion of white rice, potatoes, white bread etc. will likely turn into sugar which can turn to excess fat if you are not doing enough exercise/activity in the day to it burn it off.
If you can find whole grain carbs those are best for you such as whole grain bread, rice that’s whole wheat, etc. & in smaller portions too, these are much healthier for you white, starchy carbs. It sucks but it’s true. You can have more whole grain carbs when your hiking exercising or whatever form of exercise is enough to burn off the carbs. But having less white bread, white rice etc. Is better for your body and that would be hard to do as I know Asian’s like to eat a great deal of white rice in their culture. For me, having less dairy also works. This doesn’t mean u can’t have special treats or yummy white bread sometimes, it’s just best to have them for occasional treats or on days your getting a lot of exercise. If you must eat white rice with your Mom, maybe have it only at supper and avoid it at lunch or do the smaller portion like 1/4 cup to a 1/2 cup at the very most.
That’s my two cents and what works for me. Reaching for something protein vs. straight carbs ( except fruits or vegetables) seems to work best. I lost 23 lbs this last year and that was a large part of how I’m doing it. But don’t forget to treat yourself sometimes and every now and then have days the rules don’t count, otherwise I think any diet is too hard to keep.
As you said you’ll eat how you want but just trying to help. Good luck again on the test and great to:hear about your week.

Thank you. I still have my textbooks. Thank goodness I didn’t rent any of the books for this degree. I guess I’m just worry about questions that has anything with international tax laws and audits like that, I was never good in that area.
I think one of the problems I had before when I was eating rice two meals a day was I always felt sluggish thus making me not want to exercise. I feel a little more energetic and less sluggish now that I’m eating salads and sandwiches. Even when I walk, I felt a little lighter in my steps and not dragging my feet as I was before.
Wow! 23 pounds! That’s awesome!
My goal is to lose 20 pounds, back to my normal weight range even if it’s the upper limit of the weight range but I’ve been struggling to lose even a pound no matter how much I exercise. I think my problem might be I never stuck to a diet like the one I have right now long enough to see the result I think I’m seeing now.
I think after two weeks, my weight is slowly going down but I’ll have to work hard from now on.
Thank you for reading and always appreciate your comment. 🙂
