At long last, I got myself a new camera lens, not that the old one isn’t any good. I just wanted a bigger lens (55-210 mm) for photographing animals, the moon, and faraway places. This is the first picture I took with the new lens. The sky looks like there’s a storm coming. I hope not, I have plans for the weekend.

Good sky, and it seems pretty sharp for the high ISO. It’s always fun getting a new lens, and I’ve considered that 55-210mm. Most of mine are wide, since I’ll usually take either landscapes or close-ups. But I’ll always wish I had a longer lens for wildlife. Except for the local bears, seems like I can never get close enough.
I usually carry my A6000 with me (E-mount, and pretty similar to your Nex-5), with a 16-50mm since that’s fairly compact. But I’ll also use the Sony f2.8/16, which takes a pretty good shot — even with the VCL-ECU2 ultra-wide converter, which takes it down to 12mm. The 16mm alone is also really small. BTW, I like your Instagram shots!

Thank you. I took the picture in RAW format and processed it in Lightroom. I think it came out okay. There was quite a bit of noise before I smoothed it out but I agree, it came out pretty sharp for this high ISO.
It’s fun to get something new for the camera in general, I think. I bought this lens mostly to photograph wildlife and the moon since I can only rarely do it with my 16-50 mm lens due to the large amount of light.
My camera is an E-mount too.
My goal this year is to get one more lens, one with a fixed focal length and large F-stop but for now, I will play with my brand new lens a little bit before buying another. I’m glad you like my Instagram shots. I haven’t updated in a while since I haven’t really gone anywhere in the past month or so. Hopefully, I’ll get some new pictures soon.

Thanks for the reply. Clearly, I need to get better at RAW processing. You do a good job in Lightroom.
There are a couple of f1.8 lenses I’ve been considering. However, the a6000 has gotten a little beat up (I’m hard on cameras). Maybe time for a whole new body?

Thank you. As for getting a new body for the camera, I’m the type that says, “if it works, why spend the money to get a new one?” But it’s up to you.
