Sunday Poser #87 – Solitude

Where do you go when you need solitude?

I’ve been needing solitude for quite some time now. It’s been a long while since I’ve been alone.

What can I say?

It’s tough to even get out of the house when there’s going to be an interrogation of where I’ve been when I return. Gosh, it’s like living in an interrogation room 24/7 because I’m either given a lecture upon my return or I’m given errands despite going nowhere near a store.

Then if I really want to go somewhere, I must drag my entire family with me. Ugh!

If I have a chance to really get some solitude, I would seek it in nature. I love driving mountain passes. Those curves in the roads are exciting to drive on and they give me a great opportunity to improve my driving.

Do you like being on your own and what’s your favorite place to spend alone time?

I do like to be on my own, especially the last few years. After the family immigrated to the U.S, I felt like I went from being the only child to being a parent of 8. Even after almost 4 years, it still feels this way. I still get calls on my days off from one of the adults asking dumb questions.

Then there’s my mom, who makes me want to be alone more than ever before. She’s the interrogator, by the way.

My all-time favorite place to spend alone time was a hike I did two years ago up at 10,000 feet elevation. It was such a beautiful place. It was quiet, serene with no noise hinting of civilization. It was just nature all the way. Sure, it was a little scary being out of cell range and hiking on my own but sometimes, one must do what one must do to get a few hours of alone time.
