They had no idea they were burying an empty casket. They were simply honoring their daughter’s final wish to have a closed-casket funeral, not knowing their daughter had not wanted to give in to death so easily.

In an unassuming-looking building in a remote, undisclosed location, in the middle of a sterile white room, her body lied on a metal table, being kept alive by tubes and machines. Before she entered her final coma, she was told of the odds of survival. After all, she was exploring technology in uncharted territories but once a stubborn person will always be a stubborn person and she was willing to fight this until the very end.

5 years later…

In a simulated forest environment, a robot with spiderly-long arms moved about the floor, feeling each branch and leaf along the way.

“Amazing!” Cried a scientist, bolted up and started high-fiving the other scientists on the team.

In the sterile white room, she still lied on the same metal table, her body still being kept alive by tubes and machines but somehow, her mind was controlling the robot.
