#SundayStills: Monthly Color Challenge: #Black and #Metallic

This week, in the spirit of October being the month of Halloween, Terri has chosen the monthly color and they are… black and/or metallic.

The first photo that came to mind was this one – a photo of the sign “Royal Mile” in Edinburgh, Scotland – and surprise, surprise, despite in May and still quite chilly, there was an ice cream truck lurking behind.

This picture was also taken in Edinburgh. It was my first time seeing a heart-shape lock outside of television and social media. I have been working on improving picking an aperture for specific photos instead of using f/8 for every photo. This photo was taken with an aperture of f/5 and I was glad it came out right.

…and I think I’ll end with one of the most delicious things I’ve had this year from the garden. At first, I thought these tasted bland and watery but then I discovered I need to let them sit on my kitchen counter for a few days before consuming them. For some reason, it’s when the sweetness and acid come to the surface.

Mom is loving these tomatoes and has requested these be on my grow list next year. Well, glad she liked something from the garden this year. These black tomatoes are starting to grow on me, too, and yes, I will definitely consider these guys on my grow list for next year, which will include the San Marzano, Sun cherry, and Sun Sugar tomatoes.

    1. Thank you. This tomato is quite special, the skin turns into this very dark purple-blackish color when it’s exposed to sunlight and it turns absolute black when it’s slightly over-ripe (the ripeness I prefer).
