Happy Sunday! Ritva is hosting this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge with the topic of Minimalism in Black and White.
I believe I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – bad weather photos make the best looking black and whites.
This photo wasn’t taken in any place special. It was simply a foggy day as there are plenty of those here in December and January and I was seizing the opportunity to go for a walk in the park. The only things I brought with me was my phone and house keys. I believe it might had been on this walk that I developed a liking for phone photography.
This photo was turned black and white because it didn’t work in color. I tried to make it work but just couldn’t.
This is somewhere over the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and it’s one of my favorite photos from my November trip to the Grand Canyon. I love how the road winds along the canyon. The road almost looks like a squiggly line on a blank canvas.
Finally, my absolute favorite black and white photo of 2025. I tried to like the color version of the photo but it didn’t feel as right as the black and white. I love how minimalistic the photo is with little to distract from the main subject.

These all are lovely photographs, but the first one is the best at minimalist, it manages to fit all the elements i like in this style. Also the last one is a beautiful shot of mininalist nature photography

I love a foggy day and photos, but we don’t get many of those around here. I really like the coyote in the field. I don’t know if it was windy that day, but I can imagine that was the only sound. but if those are birds in the background they might have been noisy? 🙂
