As children, we would play pretend on the slide. You were always the elder, wiser one and always wanted to take care of me.
“Go to the living room,” you’d say and I would slide down and head to a spot on the playground.
Those were always some of my favorite childhood memories, hard to imagine over 20 years has passed and we haven’t seen each other in over 15 years. I wonder how you are each day and wonder if you think about me the same way. Even though we no longer speak, you will always be my friend.
(100 words)

My 5-year-old granddaughter and I play a game where she sits on the bottom of the slide and I sit elsewhere in the playground. She’s a fish. I cast my line and reel her in but she’s too young (starting at age one and going up one year with each catch) so I toss her back. By the time she’s old enough to catch and eat (age 10) she learns out to spit out the hook so I can never really “get” her. She thinks it’s great fun.

Haha, that’s smart.

One thing I don’t get is why they no longer speak to each other, even though this character has such fond memories of the other.

Friendship fell apart, life got in the way, moved away and fell out of touch… Lots of reasons.

It is sad when that happens – but lovely memories ❤️

It’s nice that the character still thinks of the playmate as a friend. Hopefully they’ll talk again someday.
