Penny stood frozen. “What’s wrong?” Greg asked. Penny’s lips trembled as she struggled to get a word out of her lips. All she could do was stare up at the tree. Greg followed Penny’s eyes, “Cool, is that a snake?”
At once, Penny’s eyes flew to him, “What?! What’s wrong with you? Aren’t you afraid at all?”
Greg chuckled, “Why should I be afraid of a harmless snake?”
“Harmless?” Penny shrieked. “What if it suddenly swings down and wraps itself around your neck? Or worse, bites you?”
Greg laughed, “P-lease, snakes don’t attack unless you attack them first.”
Penny shook her head and rolled her eyes, “unbelievable,” and with her head down, she hurried passed the tree while Greg lingered behind to snap pictures of the snake.

I am participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer, where we write a piece between 100 and 150 words (more or less 25 words) in length inspired by the photo prompt above.
Hahaha! I would be more like Penny and less like Greg! Cute story Yinglan!

Haha! I’m somewhere in between. Afraid of snakes yet I wouldn’t get as freaked as Penny. 😀

I wouldn’t have tempted fate by believing snakes are all harmless…or predictable.

I wouldn’t have either.

Clicking pictures as I write. Sadly if a snake is show on the television, one of my relatives runs from the room

Haha, I know my mom would definitely run. She got freaked out over a tiny lizard recently. 😃

I’ve seen enough of these poisonous little fellas. Run, definitely is my motto.

I’d say pass it quietly but never stand frozen beneath it.

I’m with Greg haha, but I’d still keep both eyes on it at all times! Great take on the prompt.

If Greg can actually tell what kind of snake it is, then more power to him — and stopping for a few good photos makes perfect sense! I know that most snakes aren’t poisonous, but not being absolutely certain whether that’s true of the snake in front of me… Well, better safe than sorry. (Although I might pause just for *one* photo. Or two, tops.)

Maybe Greg has some knowledge about snakes which helps him determine which ones are dangerous and which are harmless.
I think I’m one of those people who would stop for a photo too. 😁

I am still petrified of snakes though many live in my neighborhood.
