Hello, welcome to #weekendcoffeeshare! If we were having coffee, I would have a cup of hot cocoa because today feels like a hot cocoa kind of day, not that it’s cold though I wouldn’t say it’s overly warm either.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’m finally punctual on my gardening schedule. At the start of the year, I set the planting dates on my phone’s calendar – start spring vegetables, start summer flowers, start tomatoes, etc. I have been pushing those dates back because I was worried about the weather. I finally started all of that last weekend after moving the frost tolerant plants outside and planting most of it in either the ground or containers.
Since I have lots to plant, I decided to go with peat pallets, which is what you’re seeing in this photo – 50 peat pallets = 50 plants. Other than 14 tomato plants, all the others are summer flowers.
The seeds germinated incredibly fast, especially because there’s a heat mat beneath the trays to warm things up. Most of the flowers germinated about 3 days later while the tomatoes took a little longer to sprout but as of yesterday, April 1, just about all have germinated.

Last night, after my newly purchased peat pallets finally arrived, I decided to start some more vegetables and beans despite my calendar said to plant beans on April 23. I think unless Mother Nature pulls a switcheroo on the seasons, the beans should be ready for transplanting in about 4 weeks.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you my night photography class was supposed to start last night and was supposed to go do some milky way photography tonight but the class has been delayed by a week. I was a little saddened when I received the news on Thursday because this was the second time I signed up for this class. The last time was in 2020 and it was canceled but I guess delayed is better than canceled.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I found out I have a hole in my mouth. I was rinsing my mouth at the beginning of the week – swishing the mouth rinse around like I normally would until I felt this strange pain in my right nostril. It was like someone shoving an entire mint plant up my nose. Next thing I knew, my mouth rinse was flowing from my nostril.
I went to see my oral surgeon yesterday and he confirmed my suspicion. The stitches from my surgery from 3 weeks ago were removed, in hopes that it would help close the hole naturally. If the hole is closed, water and other liquids will stop magically transport from my mouth to my nose.
I have another appointment in a few weeks to follow up. If the hole is still there, he might have to stitch it shut. Crossing my fingers it won’t come to that.
Finally, if we were having coffee, I would tell you the A to Z Blogging Challenge began yesterday. What it is is a blogging challenge where we blog from A to Z from a self-chosen theme. My theme this year is the “Mystery at the Millionaire Mansion“, a serial flash fiction where I post one part per day with the chapter name start with each day’s letter.
I’m spending the first 5 days introducing each of the 5 main characters – Abby, Beth, Charlie, Daphne, and Ethan – before diving into the story.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this edition of #weekendcoffeeshare, hope to chat again same time next week.

I like the plan for your A-Z challenge. I don’t know how you have time to do all the things you do. Miss Energy is not so common; you are special.

I plan ahead, Oneta. 🙂 I started planning this challenge back in October.
I don’t think I have more energy than the next person especially nowadays with garden chores, work, and dealing with the family.

wow – YingLan – I’ve never heard of someone getting a hole in their mouth as you described. Just when you think life must have run out of surprises by now, you get something like this. Just wow!
Here’s hoping it closes up as you described.

I know, right? Just when I thought the surprises are over.
I did some research and it appears this phenomenon happens a lot to those who gets wisdom teeth taken out.

So happy to hear you’re doing so well with your planting. I wanted to plant herbs on my balcony, but haven’t yet started on it at all.
I’m so sorry to hear about the hole in your mouth. Wow, your oral surgery saga seems to be never-ending. I really hope the hole closes up on its own.
It feels like a hot cocoa day here too. Too bad I don’t have any. Can you pass me some?

Hi Astrid, it’s never too late to start herbs. I’m restarting my thyme and rosemary since the last one died. It’s my 4th time growing rosemary, hopefully 4th time’s the charm. 😀
I’d love to pass you some hot cocoa. I bought a large box of the instant stuff at the end of last year when it went on sale and still trying to get through it. 😀

Love the peat pellets. Great way to get going, I should follow your lead on that.

Thank you. I think they are a great way to start lots of plants at once especially when one of short on space. 🙂

Congratulations on getting your seeds started for the growing season! It’s such a lovely, hope-filled time, isn’t it?! I have a good chunk of my seeds started, too, and just love checking on the babies every day 🙂 I do hope you heal up well and quickly without any further intervention! Best of luck! Hope you have a great week ahead!

It definitely is a hopeful time, spring. I absolutely love going out into the garden in the morning to see what sprouted overnight. 🙂

Your peat pallets are so cute! We started growing stuff too — not veggie and herbs just yet. Just starting with a box of flowers in the front. I don’t have time to work on more stuff yet.

Peat pallets are nice to have because they save a ton of space.
