Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #217: Opposites

Tina is the host for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge and she has chosen the topic of Opposites.

Fire and water, I think this one’s obvious.

This fireplace picture will also probably one of the last times I’ll look at this fireplace because the installation of my new fireplace is right after I return from vacation. I’m looking forward to replacing this ineffective fireplace for one that does not turn my living room into an ice box during winter.

How about Day vs. Night?

I love this location and hope to return for another opportunity to shoot nightscapes. It’s probably my closest access to a dark sky.

How can I end a post about opposites without a sunrise and sunset?

To me, sunrise is more than just a beautiful landscape, it’s nature’s way of saying, “it’s time to begin another day.” To begin anew, as some calls it. Meanwhile, sunset signifies an end to a day and I think that’s one of the many beauties of sunsets.

  1. Love your photos from the Spiral Jetty. I’ll have put that on my list when we travel through there again. Your night sky is fantastic. So hard to capture. excellent.

hoping your new fireplace is opposite of your old one. Nice choices. Donna

    1. Thank you. It was part of the field exercise for the night photography class I was taking at the time.
Spiral Jetty is quite off the beaten track and not many people know about it. If you ever visit Golden Spike National Monument, there is an unpaved road that will lead you to this amazing place.

      1. During our walk this morning we talked of this place. My husband hadn’t heard of it either. Hopefully it stays off the beaten path to lots of people. lol. I know we all like to explore, but its fun to visit lesser know places.
