Angie stares at the Christmas lights in the rear-view mirror, waiting for the light to turn green, while a jazz rendition of “I’ll be Home for Christmas” plays softly on the radio.

#SundayStills – Monthly Color Challenge: Ruby Wine

In the midst of getting the yard project completed, I completely missed autumn this year. I had zero pictures of the colors and the leaves but then again, autumn 2021 has been weird – warm and rainy.

“Guys, stop what you’re doing! We got trouble.” Johnny runs in to the playroom. The room’s suddenly still.

#SundayStills – Hobbies

In January of 2020, I toured a house where the hostess has a hobby of collecting nativity figures from every country. Just about every inch of her home – kitchen counter, stove, bedrooms, even bathrooms – was occupied by a nativity figurine and it was supposed to be put away after the new year but she kept it out for my church group.

Some of these figurines were very intricate while some even required special instruments to see.

I wonder if she had done it again for Christmas 2020?

Friday Fictioneers: Prepping for Christmas

“What’s with all the gingerbread cookies?” May’s jaw dropped at the sight of the trays of badly decorated gingerbread cookies on the kitchen counter.

Letter to Self: 19 Christmases and Counting

My Dear 10-year-old Self,

It seems like just yesterday you landed at the terminal of the LAX. I bet you feel like an alien – unable to understand the language and the environment is certainly not what you’ve expected – but I tell you, you’re going to get through this. There are lots of adventures waiting ahead. There are obstacles, too, but I’m telling you, you’re going to get through it.

Friday Fictioneers: The Stranded Mr. C

Mr. C stares at the sign and sighs. Still gone as it has been for 50 years. He’s stranded in this desolate place as his brain kept wandering back to that fateful night. What went wrong? “I triple-checked that spirit-meter, didn’t I?” He muttered.

Lens-Artists Challenge #128: And Here Comes the Holiday Season

When I think of the holidays at the end of the year, I think of the wonderful and marvelous light displays at local parks. Not only are the lights pretty, it allows me to practice my night photography and bokeh photography on my wide-aperture lens.

Friday Fictioneers: Christmas Bedtime Story

PHOTO PROMPT © Sandra Crook

They call this the “Scrooge Farm”. Instead of Christmas decoration each year, around Christmas, there would be scarecrows dressed in rags and sandbags for heads popping up in random places ’round the farm. Now, no one has ever seen the owner as there’s no house on the hundred-acre property.

The Meaning of Christmas

I spent this Christmas Eve sitting in my car in a near-empty mall parking lot, calling the only person that would understand my situation while listening to the rain peter-patter on the roof of my car. Continue reading “The Meaning of Christmas”

Thought of the Day!

I follow this page on Facebook that presents positive thoughts and stuff. After the events this weekend, I really need something positive. Here’s a thought for this Monday:

Love your life. Take picture of everything. Tell people you love them. Talk to random strangers. Do things you’re scared to do. Because so many of us die and none remembers a thing we did. Take your life and make it the best story in the world. Don’t waste it.
