A Photo a Week Challenge: Unexpected

I spent this past week traveling and on the first day of my road trip, while I was walking along the Fremont River in Capitol Reef National Park, I spotted something moving in the trees. At first glance, I thought it was an owl. I have no idea what made me think of that. I was about to point and whisper-shout, “Owl,” when I realized it was just an ordinary fatty of a squirrel.

Highway 12 Road Trip Day 3

Okay, day 3 of 4. I had probably driven almost 500 miles by now. I’ll have to check my odometer in the morning.

Highway 12 Road Trip Day 2

This is day 2 of my 4 day trip along the All-American highway (Highway 12). This is actually the first day touring Highway 12 as I spent yesterday in Capitol Reef.

Highway 12 Road Trip Day 1

It was such a beautiful day today. Though I’m dog-tired having driven almost 300 miles and fulfilled my 10,000 steps today, I had such a great time. It is very rare to get a quiet day without my mom and the jet noise from the air force base. It’s one of those rare days I get to just focus on nature.

Now onto Day 2

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Sunrise

One of the things about living on the Wasatch Front is we don’t get to see sunrise here because the mountains are in the way. Continue reading “Tuesday Photo Challenge – Sunrise”

A Photo a Week Challenge: Unexpected Window

As I was watching TV last night and mindlessly browsing my photos on my tablet, I came across this picture and thought, of course, how can I forget this picture?

I shot this picture two years ago as I was visiting Mount Rushmore. There was a small opening along the trail and I remember looking up upon entering and thought, this is a nice, unique perspective of George Washington.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Splash

I absolutely love water photography and take every chance I can get to photograph it. This picture is from my most recent trip to Bear Lake. It was my second time to visit this beautiful lake. My first time was in September. This time, I came with my mom and her friends. I was once again the navigator.

There we were standing on the beach and just as I was about to take some pictures of the water since I didn’t get many great pictures the first time, our friends decided to skip stones. He’s quite good at this.

This is his son’s attempt. His son basically picked up a big ol’ rock and threw it into the water. The rock landed with a loud plop.

Which Ways to Bear Lake Again?

When my mom called my former student’s mother, aka her friend, last Saturday, I knew this Thanksgiving would be similar to last year’s Christmas – we would be spending the day with my former student’s family. Continue reading “Which Ways to Bear Lake Again?”

Funny – Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge

I went on a day trip yesterday. It wasn’t to any place new. I went to Bear Lake back in September, during Labor Day weekend. The only difference this time was I wasn’t the one driving and we went all the way to Montpelier, Idaho. Along the way, I saw an abundance of bear statues. I’m guessing it’s to honor the name of “Bear Lake”.

This cute bear statue was outside the restaurant we had lunch at in Paris, Idaho. I took this picture after everyone went into the restaurant. I can never resist a bear with that smile. 🙂
