If we were having coffee, I would start off by telling you I had a pleasant week. Weather had been nice and warm – so warm that my feet no longer felt freezing when I’m at home. Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare: Country Feast” →

As I mention in the post, A Good Match, I ventured to the other side of the river on Sunday. First, I am guessing many of you are confused. River? The QiJiang (歧江) River basically runs through my hometown. My aunt calls the river, “The Stinky River”. I don’t blame her. It is pretty stinky.
Anyway, I ventured to the other side of the river on Sunday, away from the shopping centers and the giant Ferris Wheel. Maybe because the city hasn’t gotten to revitalize this side of the river yet? I am not entirely sure. The graffiti on the wall reminded me a little of the suburb in East Los Angeles where I lived for four years.

To be honest, when I sat down to write this week’s gratitude post, I couldn’t think of one thing to be grateful for this week. Nothing really happened this week. Well, my aunt finally sold her apartment and she’s been out of my hair most of the week. I guess I am grateful for that. I got to spend the time to catch up on my new followers and all the new episodes of TV shows I haven’t had a chance to watch yet. Hey, I guess I do have several things to be grateful for this week after all.

For a greater part of my life, I have struggled with accepting myself as part of the family I come from. I look nothing like my mom and compared with all the photos I have of my dad, I don’t look much like him either. Continue reading “Not Such An Oddball After All” →
