Experimental Photography

Ever since my aunt gave me her expensive camera with tons of bells and whistles, I’ve been experimenting with the camera functions. I’m not taking many pictures these days but when I was on my road trip in May, I was experimenting. Here are some of my experimental shots.

f/22, 16 mm, ISO-100, 1/20 sec

I took this picture at Marble Canyon using the camera’s manual mode. I tried 1 second long exposure but it made everything white-ish and bright. So I just had to go with 1/20 second.

f/22, 16 mm, ISO-100, 1 sec

I think I like this long-exposure photo better.

f/9, 39 mm, ISO-100, 1/200 sec

I also experimented with panoramic photography and discover sunshine, wind, and movement do not make a great panorama. In the above picture, if one looks closely, you’ll see straight lines going up and down near the bottom of the picture. Those lines were caused by one of those three things.

Share Your World – Week of November 6, 2017

Would you rather take a 2 week vacation with an organized tour or take a cruise of your choice?

I never liked an organized tour. When I went on an organized tour in March this year, I got angry with all the ladies complaining about punctuality and hunger. I fought with them and I swore I would never go on another organized tour. I would rather go on a relaxing trip even if the only thing to see is the ocean. So two weeks on a large cruise ship eating, exercising, and sleeping sounds great to me. 🙂

Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing?

I loved swinging as a child and by child, I mean age ten and up. I fell in love with swinging after I came to the U.S.

Oh yeah, definitely, I still get excited when I see a swing.

What is the most important thing that you ever learned ? (I bet it’s not something you learned in school)

No, it’s definitely not something I learned in school. 😄 I learned it by reading the wonderful blogs I follow and Facebook and it has transformed my way of thinking. The important thing is to have a happy life, it is important to practice gratitude. It’s important to say at least one good thing to someone each day. Compliment them and in turn, it’ll make you feel good. It is also important to write down something you’re grateful for at least once each week.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

It has been a busy busy busy week this past week. I can tell you what I didn’t appreciate – the furnace not working at home when the temperature outside is near or below freezing. I’ll have to call the repairman today to have them come and check it out.

Meanwhile, I appreciated the ending of daylight saving last Sunday. It gave me one more hour even though technically, we still only have 24 hours. The days just felt longer even if it did mess up my body clock and I’ve been needing to go to bed at 9 PM all week. 😄
