I used to laugh at memes of ill-translated signs on Pinterest. It was something to boost my moods though I never thought I’d encounter such signs until I took a trip to China in 2017.
I am a simple person with simple desires and when it comes to getting cozy especially during winter, my go-to is minimalistic at its best – just a cup of rich and delightful hot cocoa and somewhere that’s warm.
Like how this cat is curled up comfortably on the couch by the fireplace that was behind me, that spot feels like somewhere I would park for the afternoon.
View from the lodge
Here is my favorite way to staying warm and cozy during winter – head to a ski resort, ride the tram to the top, if there’s a restaurant or lodge, head inside, order a steamy cup of hot cocoa with whipped cream and preferably marshmallow, and finally find a seat with the view. Now, that, in my vocabulary, is a simple person’s luxury.
In the midst of getting the yard project completed, I completely missed autumn this year. I had zero pictures of the colors and the leaves but then again, autumn 2021 has been weird – warm and rainy.
I went to a cousin’s wedding in 2017 while I was spending a long 4 months break in China. In China, weddings are apparently a big deal. It’s basically a party of which everyone is invited as long as you’re related to somebody at the party. There are limousine involved and singer and dancer, photographer. It sounds expensive, if you ask me.
When I saw the topic for this challenge, my memory almost immediately took me to this picture. This was a church long ago, back when Portuguese dominated this town, Macau, in China. Sadly, it was burn down and all that was left was this wall.
In January of 2020, I toured a house where the hostess has a hobby of collecting nativity figures from every country. Just about every inch of her home – kitchen counter, stove, bedrooms, even bathrooms – was occupied by a nativity figurine and it was supposed to be put away after the new year but she kept it out for my church group.
Some of these figurines were very intricate while some even required special instruments to see.
I wonder if she had done it again for Christmas 2020?
