Share Your World – 2016 Week #5

wpid-dscf0091.jpgIf you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronic devices and things stored on them, people or animals), what would you put on it?

  1. This bottle of stars because even though the person who made this bottle of stars is no longer relevant as in we disconnected for good, this item still and will always represent the symbol of friendship.
  2. My collection of state and national parks quarters.I have three complete sets of state quarters and currently searching for national parks quarters.
  3. The tassels from my high school graduation and college graduation.

If you had a box labelled ‘happiness’, what would you put in it?

My notebook with a pen and my iPod, so I will have music and words with me everywhere I go.

What do you want more of in your life?

I would like more freedom and independence where I can make my own decisions without having to think of the repercussion (mom’s reaction). Like a few weeks ago, I specifically heard mom say, “I need you to go to Dollar Tree and get some trays.”

I went to Dollar Tree the next day and spent 15 minutes picking out a baking tray to my (mom)’s satisfaction but when she got home that night and asked about the bowls, I was confused. Don’t you mean trays?Plastic Bowl

It turned out she wanted me to get the large plastic bowls in which we wash the vegetables. The next day, I tried to find the receipt but it was gone. I was so afraid. She would’ve said I’m stupid or that I’m absentminded and shouted for hours and hours. Well, let’s just say I didn’t tell her of my mistake. So you see, I don’t want to spend forever to analyze her reaction in every decision. I like to just focus on making a decision for me for a change.

Daily Life List: What do you do on an average day? Make a list of your usual activities you do each day.

SaturdayWell, it depends. On weekdays, I get up real early, check blog notification on my tablet, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush my teeth and wash my face, then it’s off to school. After school, sometimes I go to work for a few hours before coming home, eat dinner, watch TV, read a few blogs before showering and heading to bed.

Weekends? It depends, on weekends like this where mom is off to her monthly training and I’m alone with no means of transportation, I’ll sleep-in and just spend the day blogging and doing homework while watching a few travel and cooking show in the afternoon. It’s a weekend where everything is very simple.

On other weekends, anything can happen. Mom can be rushing me to work or taking me out somewhere.

Just need you to know…

Do you remember when I told you about getting bad luck in your zodiac year? Of course not, I don’t even remember. All I know is people tend to be unlucky in their zodiac year. Why am I telling you this? Because my bad luck surfaced. I was born in the year of the sheep and 2015 was the year of sheep and it will remain the year of the sheep until February 8, 2016 or Chinese New Year, 2016.

Anyway, I thought I would make it through the entire year without much bad luck then today, February 2, 2016, the worse of the worst luck appeared. 485392_419217044830488_1085899719_n

I was in my marketing class using my tablet to look up something on Google when the screen suddenly went black. At first, it scared me to death. What’s happening? Oh no, don’t die on me? Those were my initial thoughts.

I pressed the power button and it seemed to be starting back up. I was a little relieved until a few minutes later when I noticed the screen was stuck on the logo. In that instant, I could felt my hands trembling and heart threatening to jump out of my chest. I tried to be as calm as I could so my instructor wouldn’t notice. It was difficult but I think I succeeded.

I don’t handle these situations well. You can tell by my speech in this post that I’m still overwhelmed by the anxiety. I’m not sure if it will ever stop at least until I have my tablet back safe and sound and working properly again.

I had this tablet since February 13, 2013, ten days after I began blogging, by the way, it’s the third anniversary of this blog tomorrow. At first, I mostly just use it to play The Sims, check emails, and take notes for classes and then later, I began posting pictures to Instagram and so on. I loved this tablet, still do. It’s like a baby to me.

Last October, a week before my Chicago trip, I changed the battery so it will last more than 4 hours each charge. It was November when I noticed the clock on the tablet had stopped working. I mean, the time would not change until I turned off and turn on the tablet again.

I had a hunch that I should have reset the device to factory specification but I didn’t want to. Really, who wants to wipe everything and download them again? I sure don’t. I did that once with my 6-years-old laptop 4 years ago. It was not fun but then again, I think if I did that, then my bad luck might have been inverted today.

Anyway, after school, I immediately drove to work and had my genius tech friend diagnose the problem. He can fix just about everything electronic except TV, printers, and computers. After running several tests, he determined my darling tablet has a bad charge port and probably some software issue. A factory reset is currently on hold until the charge port comes in since the tablet must connect to the computer in order to reset. I told him I haven’t been able to do that for two years and I should’ve realized that I have a defective charge port. I just hope a factory reset will solve the problem.

I just got home moments ago after making sure my dear tablet is safe and sound at work but as I pulled my car into the garage, I suddenly realized how much I miss it already and just how many things I have grown dependent on it to do like editing pictures, playing Sudoku, posting to Instagram, and making phone calls. Therefore, over the next week or so, I may be slow at replying to your comments and I will not be able to post to my Instagram account. I just want you all to know. So please be patient.

Curse my bad luck!

Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Lines and Angles

wp-1454028687139.jpeg

I originally had two pictures I want to put into this post but I changed my mind. The other one looked weird and I think this picture will do all that I need even though I thought it looked less overexposed on my tablet. So this week’s topic is lines and angles. Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Pink or Magenta Flowers

First of all, I want to apologize for posting old pictures. Spring hasn’t come and everything is still bare. So no new flower pictures. Hopefully, when March comes, I’ll have some new pictures. Continue reading “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Pink or Magenta Flowers”

Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Snow and Sunset

The topic this week is anything that starts with the letter S. It took me a while as the only word that came to me was “snow” but eventually, I’ve come up with these pictures. I hope you enjoy. 🙂 Continue reading “Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Snow and Sunset”

What is your favorite piece of art? (it doesn’t have to be famous)wpid-wp-1447096217709.jpeg

I’m don’t have a favorite individual piece of art. If I like art, I will usually like the whole genre. For example, Renaissance, Realism, etc. This sculpture is one of my favorites. It looks like two fingers crossed which means hopeful and optimistic.

What made you smile today?

Nothing yet, it’s still early, maybe when I’m done with my projects for my computer class? What made me smile yesterday, though, was that I successfully installed VirtualBox and Fedora onto my other laptop. VirtualBox is a virtual drive which allows me to run a DVD without actually using a DVD and Fedora is sort of like Linux, a lesser known operating system. This made me smile because I usually don’t have a lot of luck when it comes to installing something like a separate user interface. That’s the part that always trips me.

Which place do you recommend as a Must-See? Please state which country, state or providence.

Delicate Arch

I would recommend checking out the national parks in Southern Utah (the red rocks area). It’s absolutely amazing especially if you make the 90-minute hike to see the Delicate Arch. Unlike my mom, I want to go there again.

Complete this sentence: When I was younger I used to….

When I was younger, I used to sing and play the piano, privately, of course, when no one’s looking or listening. I have very bad stage fright, still do. Maybe one day, I will finally conquer it. Maybe…

Coffee House Ramble #8

Weekly Coffee House Ramble

I would first like to apologize that I cannot be here today. I will most definitely be in my upper level Statistics class at the moment, probably counting down the 50 minutes until when I will be getting out to go to the bookstore and blow a few hundred bucks on textbooks. To tell you the truth, I would rather be in bed. I am not at all used to waking up this early.

But what can I say? All my classes this semester will be in the morning which means I will be getting up before dawn Monday to Friday. Weirdly, on the other hand, I’ve been looking forward to this semester. You may ask, “Why?”

In my heart, I have a feeling this semester will be different than the last. It will be better. For one, I am not taking any accounting classes this semester. I am taking business classes instead like management, marketing, information system, and of course statistics. For another, it’s just me going to school this semester, mom’s not tagging along, attempting to make my life miserable. She will pretty soon be working from day to night and I’ll be pretty much alone at home. I will get to have the car. I will get to stay at school for as long as I want and won’t have anyone texting me when I’ll be home. I just wish I get to go anywhere I want without mom knowing.

That will come at a cost though. Everything comes at a cost. Mom will be cranky and irritable. She doesn’t want to work and yet money’s her best friend. Don’t look at me, I didn’t tell her to take so many jobs.

I’ve made myself a promise at the end of last semester that I will enjoy this semester, that I will make an effort to make friends, to social, to network. I just hope I can live with this promise.

In case you missed last time:
