I took all these pictures during the last month and they were all taken in the early in the morning. I love sunrises, there are always so many colors associated. I just don’t like getting this early. Good thing I only have three more weeks of school left.
Daily Post Photo Challenge – Half-Light

This picture was taken at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada last September. I stopped there on my way home from Las Vegas. It was incredibly hot that day, almost 100°F and it was dry heat so every breath I took in burned in my lungs. I enjoyed the desert landscapes anyway.
I’ve chosen this picture to represent this week’s photo challenge and discover challenge because I believe the word, harmony, has a lot of different meanings. In my mind, harmony is a group of people, animals, and even objects come together in peace and create something amazing and to see, well, that’s invoking a sense, right?
When I look at this picture, it reminds me of this. In a way, this desert landscape is a work of art created by mother nature and this is how I see it:
Each time a gust of wind goes by, a group of sandstone particles would volunteer to surrender their place, they would choose to explore elsewhere even though they knew that once they leave, they’re never coming back. Over time, as more and more of these sandstone particles choose to move on, to travel and find a new home by means of the wind, a gaping hole would be in their places and sooner or later, the rock will look more and more like a block of Swiss cheese or it will transform into a peculiar sculpture that looks like the upper half of a man’s body.

So I finally brought my camera with me to school but so far, I haven’t been able to capture a lot of images. This is one of them. My original goal was to take this in the dark because the minute and second hands light up but I missed my chance. Now, I’ll just have to wait until winter to capture it again.
This is a magnificent object in the school. It’s about the only thing that stands out for miles and with the mountains in the back, the scenery is breathtaking.

This was taken in the moment, just seconds before I had to sprint to catch the shuttle last week. For some reason, the mountains look incredibly close. It looks like the mountains are just beyond those buildings and stairs.

The past few weeks, it’s not been pretty here. Fog, haze, and gray skies, everyday not to mention the horrible air quality. Typical Utah winter. Continue reading “Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Weather” →

Other than snow, I don’t have a lot of pictures that represent cold things. However, as I was scrolling through Instagram on my laptop, I came across this picture. I don’t remember taking this picture let alone posting it to Instagram because why would I take a picture of a block of ice?
In the caption, it said, “Three hours in the sun and the ice’s still there.” So I guess this proves just how cold the water is.

These are some of the pictures I took during my first trip to Yellowstone about 5 years ago. 5 years? Has it really been that long? Continue reading “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Things that are hot” →

I originally had two pictures I want to put into this post but I changed my mind. The other one looked weird and I think this picture will do all that I need even though I thought it looked less overexposed on my tablet. So this week’s topic is lines and angles. Continue reading “Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Lines and Angles” →
First of all, I want to apologize for posting old pictures. Spring hasn’t come and everything is still bare. So no new flower pictures. Hopefully, when March comes, I’ll have some new pictures. Continue reading “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Pink or Magenta Flowers” →
The topic this week is anything that starts with the letter S. It took me a while as the only word that came to me was “snow” but eventually, I’ve come up with these pictures. I hope you enjoy. 🙂 Continue reading “Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Snow and Sunset” →

What is your favorite piece of art? (it doesn’t have to be famous)
I’m don’t have a favorite individual piece of art. If I like art, I will usually like the whole genre. For example, Renaissance, Realism, etc. This sculpture is one of my favorites. It looks like two fingers crossed which means hopeful and optimistic.
What made you smile today?
Nothing yet, it’s still early, maybe when I’m done with my projects for my computer class? What made me smile yesterday, though, was that I successfully installed VirtualBox and Fedora onto my other laptop. VirtualBox is a virtual drive which allows me to run a DVD without actually using a DVD and Fedora is sort of like Linux, a lesser known operating system. This made me smile because I usually don’t have a lot of luck when it comes to installing something like a separate user interface. That’s the part that always trips me.
Which place do you recommend as a Must-See? Please state which country, state or providence.

I would recommend checking out the national parks in Southern Utah (the red rocks area). It’s absolutely amazing especially if you make the 90-minute hike to see the Delicate Arch. Unlike my mom, I want to go there again.
Complete this sentence: When I was younger I used to….
When I was younger, I used to sing and play the piano, privately, of course, when no one’s looking or listening. I have very bad stage fright, still do. Maybe one day, I will finally conquer it. Maybe…

There’s something I don’t have just lying around: blue and purple flowers. I haven’t seen a lot of those anywhere. So I have to be a little creative here. Continue reading “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Blue or Purple Flowers” →

It’s interesting, I don’t think I’ve seen any orange flowers in my neighborhood. Maybe people around here don’t like orange. Oh well, at least there are yellow flowers. Continue reading “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Yellow or Orange Flowers” →
As a goal I have for myself in 2016, I am going to challenge myself to more challenges and this is another challenge. I am joining for the first time Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge. This week, the subject is White Flowers and here’s mine.

As a child, who was your favorite relative?
Although I didn’t know her very long and very well, my favorite relative has to be my step-grandmother. She is the best grandmother I could’ve ever have.
If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?
I am not sure. I am torn between a well-cared-for plant or a very tall tree in a preserved forest.
What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?
Awake before noon because then I can stay up later. Waking up before dawn means I will be tired and sleepy quicker and that means I will miss out on all the night events like concerts and parties (that might happen when I’m alone). So I think I would wake up a little later than a little earlier.
Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?
Underground, although both sounds equally uncomfortable but because I have fears of heights and falling, I think being underground would be a safer option for me. However, after doing some research of what a “burrowed spot” means, I change my mind. I would rather be dangling from a tree than lie on dirt.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am happy that last week is over. It wasn’t a good week for me. My emotions were all over the place and I wasn’t a pleasant person to deal with. School is starting again next Monday. So I am spending most of this week catching up on my TV shows and writing.

Okay, I’ll admit, when I first saw this week’s photo challenge, I didn’t really think I would have any pictures of circles but once I began searching, it turned out I have lots and most of them were of food. So may I present my gallery of spherical foods. Continue reading “Spherical Foods” →
