Saturday

This morning started out great. I had this beautiful painting-like sunrise outside my bedroom and thought, the clouds are parting, it must mean the weather’s improving. I couldn’t be more wrong. Continue reading “Saturday”

Above the Clouds

I’ve only ever ridden an airplane maybe five times, not counting the return trips and I’ve never really notice how bumpy the ride can get sometimes until my trip to Chicago a few months ago. Continue reading “Above the Clouds”

Coffee House Ramble #8

Weekly Coffee House Ramble

I would first like to apologize that I cannot be here today. I will most definitely be in my upper level Statistics class at the moment, probably counting down the 50 minutes until when I will be getting out to go to the bookstore and blow a few hundred bucks on textbooks. To tell you the truth, I would rather be in bed. I am not at all used to waking up this early.

But what can I say? All my classes this semester will be in the morning which means I will be getting up before dawn Monday to Friday. Weirdly, on the other hand, I’ve been looking forward to this semester. You may ask, “Why?”

In my heart, I have a feeling this semester will be different than the last. It will be better. For one, I am not taking any accounting classes this semester. I am taking business classes instead like management, marketing, information system, and of course statistics. For another, it’s just me going to school this semester, mom’s not tagging along, attempting to make my life miserable. She will pretty soon be working from day to night and I’ll be pretty much alone at home. I will get to have the car. I will get to stay at school for as long as I want and won’t have anyone texting me when I’ll be home. I just wish I get to go anywhere I want without mom knowing.

That will come at a cost though. Everything comes at a cost. Mom will be cranky and irritable. She doesn’t want to work and yet money’s her best friend. Don’t look at me, I didn’t tell her to take so many jobs.

I’ve made myself a promise at the end of last semester that I will enjoy this semester, that I will make an effort to make friends, to social, to network. I just hope I can live with this promise.

What am I?

So far I’ve read quite a few responses to today’s daily prompt and learned a lot about my fellow bloggers’ detailed family lineages and quite frankly, I know almost nothing of my own. Continue reading “What am I?”

The Worst and the Best

The worst possible thing that could have happened to me today has already happened. Yesterday, I was so incredibly thrill to finally find a book I like. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book I like so much. Continue reading “The Worst and the Best”

Share Your World – 2016 Week #1

As a child, who was your favorite relative?

Although I didn’t know her very long and very well, my favorite relative has to be my step-grandmother. She is the best grandmother I could’ve ever have.

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?Fantasy Forest

I am not sure. I am torn between a well-cared-for plant or a very tall tree in a preserved forest.

What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?Party (2)

Awake before noon because then I can stay up later. Waking up before dawn means I will be tired and sleepy quicker and that means I will miss out on all the night events like concerts and parties (that might happen when I’m alone). So I think I would wake up a little later than a little earlier.

Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?

Underground, although both sounds equally uncomfortable but because I have fears of heights and falling, I think being underground would be a safer option for me. However, after doing some research of what a “burrowed spot” means, I change my mind. I would rather be dangling from a tree than lie on dirt.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am happy that last week is over. It wasn’t a good week for me. My emotions were all over the place and I wasn’t a pleasant person to deal with. School is starting again next Monday. So I am spending most of this week catching up on my TV shows and writing.

Weekly Coffee House Ramble

Hey, what was up with last week? I was so excited but you never show up?

Didn’t you read my post? I was celebrating 1000th post and I thought I’d do something memorable.

Oh, and I’m not memorable?

No, I didn’t say that but you are a weekly event and I need something that says “Special announcement!” Anyway, how was your break?

Eh.

That bad, huh?

[shrugs] So it’s the new year, you got any goals? Resolutions?

[shrug] I used to make New Year Resolutions but it seems like the more I make them, the more I promise myself to do something, the more I would end up not doing it. Like last year, I told myself, “You will exercise, keep exercising until you reach your ideal weight.” I think I did it a week or at least until my body was so sore that I could barely move and I just gave up. You can see that I have a problem with commitment.

You can do that again this year, just keep telling yourself and maybe now that you have a treadmill, it’ll be easier. Didn’t you say you had to drive somewhere else to go to the gym? [Nodding] Well, now you don’t. Maybe you’ll finally achieve your ideal weight.

Okay, I see you’ve got a good point there. Maybe that was the obstacle all along. Maybe I will finally reach my dream goal. For now though, I think my main goal of 2016 is to finish my degree and graduate college for the second time. So do you have any goals this year?

[laughs] I’m in your head, remember? Your goals are my goals.

[laugh] Oh right.

Dear Mom

I am writing this letter because there’s been lots on my mind and living with you hadn’t made it any easier. I also want to I’m sorry I’ve been a little cranky lately. I know I should say it to your face instead of writing it here but let’s face it, I can never do that. You’d say I deserve it and give me one of your a-waste-of-time lectures.  Continue reading “Dear Mom”

1000th Post: First Time Clothes Shopping

Wow, I can’t believe it. 1000 posts, I was worry I wouldn’t make it before 2015 comes to an end but I did. Anyway, the 1000th post is a special post, took me two years to reach this spot. Therefore I am not going to spend it on my regular scheduled Monday Coffee House Ramble. Instead, I will tell you about my first time clothes shopping, solo clothes shopping, as in on my own. From Frozen to Sweating

eaf2ed37660e2ed483f4b7ead81cef1c

As much as I love my basement bedroom, I spent most of the morning moving back to my old room on the top floor. The frozen climate in the basement was getting a little too unbearable for me. I don’t want to spend everyday hugging a hot water bag, shaking and clattering my teeth even with a portable heater less than three feet away.

The move from the basement was like moving from Alaska to the Caribbeans. I was instantly sweating from the heat. At first, the heat was unbearable. I felt like I was on fire. Has it always been this hot upstairs? Anyway,I spent the morning walking around without a jacket and it felt great. I wonder why I stayed in that frozen tundra called a basement?

Oh yeah, my classes were driving me crazy that I couldn’t find the time to make the move.

One down side of being back in my old room is my privacy level has just went from three flights of stairs to just across the hall. Not to mention I have to keep my music volume to the down low. But I guess if I can finally be warm, that’s all it matters. I also hope that I will be able to renew my inspiration now that I’m no longer feeling cold all the time.

Well, guess it’s time for me to get back to work. I want to be able to write a story for this Christmas. I’m thinking of a modern re-told of the Christmas Classic, A Christmas Carol. We’ll see.

A Christmas Gathering

I think I mentioned this in a previous post, I attended another Christmas party last weekend. This party was hosted by the neighborhood Ward (Ward means church). Apparently, a party is hosted there every year and we never knew about it until now. It turned out to be one of the more enjoyable parties I’ve been to.  Continue reading “A Christmas Gathering”
