Share Your World – Week of August 30, 2021 Diving into the Deep End

Are human beings required to better themselves and will doing that make them happier?
I don’t think humans are required to do anything that they don’t want to do. I think if it’s required, doing it won’t necessary make them happier, if anything, it might have the opposite effect. With that said, based on my personal experience, self improvement or “bettering” ourselves often comes voluntarily, not forced. I think, as we age and become wiser, we will unconsciously self-improve.

Is it easier to love or to be loved?
In my opinion, to love is easier than to be loved. It’s a control mechanism, I think. We can control what to love or who to love or who we want to love back but to be love is out of our control. It’s the other individual who chooses whether or not we should be loved.
Outside traumatic brain injury, can memories be completely erased?
Um, yeah, by drugs, by very powerful high-tech machines. I recently saw an episode in a TV show where this guy’s memory was wiped due to an over-dosage of a drug.
Is there such a thing as a good death?
Having been through a near-death experience as a pre-teen, I have grown very fascinated with the concept of death over the years. If you read my flash fictions and short stories, you’d know I write about death quite a bit. Perhaps it’s got something with losing a few family members when I was young or maybe that near-death experience just stuck with me. If you ask me, I’d say, “yes, a good death exists when there is no pain such as when a person slips away in his or her sleep.”
and one ‘silly’ one because the former questions were fairly serious: What do you imagine is inside a baseball?
I’d imagine there’d be a hard core like the Earth.

7-15-2021 When you just need to forget the world for a few hours, what helps you get away from it all? (Fuzzywig the Stoner Raccoon)
Oh that’s easy, I usually sit still for a moment and let my mind wander. Before anyone can say another word, I’m in my head wandering, imagining, and coming up with ways to finish unfinished stories I started long ago.
7-22-2021 If you woke up tomorrow with a unicorn horn extending from the top of your head, what would be the biggest advantage and disadvantage of your new appendage? (Mitzi the Horny FRIENDLY Unicorn)
Well, I guess I can always jab people with it but then people might stare and look at me like a freak. Unless…that horn comes with super magical powers? Otherwise, it will just be this thing on top of my head and honestly, I’m seeing more disadvantages here than advantages.
7-29-2021 What is the creepiest thing you’ve ever seen someone do, that you’d be willing to talk about, of course? (Snuggle The “I Like It Kinky” Friendly Bear)

8-5-2021 What’s the silliest or pettiest thing that tends to really upset you? (Rainy, The Wickedly Obsessive Rain Loving Skunk)
I wrote about this in yesterday’s post – people borrowing my stuff for an extending length of time, return it before borrowing it again. Some say that’s silly or petty but to me, it’s seriously upsetting because if you borrow my stuff, then what am I supposed to use when I need it?
GRATITUDE SECTION (Always Optional)
How comfortable are you with meeting others who are very different from yourself? (no judgment implied. Different in any way you’d like to think about – different cultures, different races, different mind set (opinions)?
To be honest, I’m uncomfortable meeting new people PERIOD. I’m an introvert with the world’s rarest personality type (INFJ) according to a personality I took. It doesn’t matter whether we are alike or the different. It take me a while before I’m comfortable with an individual.
When I meet someone new, my brain will do a scan to get a sense of the other person’s personality, behavior, and the like. When my brain deems it’s safe, then I’ll proceed. Like I’ve mentioned before, I have a knack for this thing.

It has certainly been an interesting Independence Day this year. I spent this morning squeezing past crowds, trying to find a good spot to watch the annual parade. There was so much festivity in the park, something I didn’t think I’d ever see again after more than a year of masks and social-distancing.
The city started celebrating on July 2 and I got the feeling that this was a belated celebration of the city’s 100th birthday was supposed to be 2020 but…
This was my first time seeing this parade. I was an active participant last time, walking alongside my church’s float while tossing candies into the crowd. It is definitely a different experience. One, I get to see all the parade floats and two, I know now why there is a plastic bag tied to the little kids’ wrists. This is like a second Halloween for them.
If I get to go to this parade again next year, I would be better prepared. I would pack chairs, a tent, and lots of ice and water to keep cool and to prevent my arms from getting ten shades darker.
